   A Brief Account of Bloodlines

Diomedes

(Don Alfredo/Lessing/Dialect/Admiral I)

Offered as an outcross to performance pony breeders.

Diomedes is by Don Alfredo, a Class I Hanoverian stallion, who is well known for his temperament, jumping style and fertility.  His get have been very successful in the IHF with numerous wins and placings and include Don't Blink, Don't Talk, Dawson, Dream On, and Don Amigo.  Don himself is by Don Juan, Germany's Stallion of the Year in 1997.  He is out of Anneke, by Archimedes (an own son of Abglanz, the famous Trakehner improvement sire) who was quite successful as a German dressage sire, ranking 88th out of more than 1500.

Diomedes is by our own Laramie, who is in the Oldenburg Verband Main Marebook.  Although purchased as a broodmare, she quickly became my favorite riding horse, thus Diomedes is, as yet, her only foal.  Laramie has proven her versatility, athleticism and intelligence in the jumpers, hunters (show and field), dressage and even cross country.  She has impressed clinicians such as Rebecca Langwost, Winn Alden and Emily Beshear with her willingness and ability.  Her career has been limited only by her rider's ability and schedule.

Laramie is by Lessing, who also stood at Celle.  He was originally imported by Spruce Meadows both as a competitive jumper and for their jumper breeding program.  He was ridden by Canadian Team member Linda Southern.  His offspring in Germany earned him a top ten ranking by the German Equestrian Federation.  He also left his stamp in Canada, where many of his get are in the CSHA and CWHBA studbooks.  Lessing is by Lugano I, the most successful son of the Thoroughbred improvement sire, Der Loewe xx, who founded the Hanoverian "L" line.  Lessing was out of an own daughter of Sender, who was by Senator.  These two stallions cemented the influence of the Trakehner Semper Idem, founder of the "S" line.

The bottom of Diomedes pedigree is just as impressive.  It includes the Westfalen, Dialekt, and the Thoroughbred Miracolo xx, an improvement sire for the Oldenburgs.  And, of course the rare, most sought after blood of Admiral I, named States Premium Horse by the DLG, he stood but two seasons before his untimely death at four years old.  His impact as a stallion is still seen today, especially through his daughter lines.
