   Important Notes for Breeders

Registration options include the Virginia Pony Breeders Association and a variety of the major pony breed part and half breed studbooks.  We will work with you to ensure the proper documentation of pedigree.  Diomedes is fully registered and DNA typed through the Oldenburg Verband.  Current plans are to pursue registry and/or studbook approval through the RSPI, the ASPR and the PHR.  Priority will be given based on our mare owners' needs and desires.  We are also open to suggestions and highly recommend the registration of offspring with a reputable breed or registry organization.  

Diomedes is offered as an outcross to performance pony breeders only and, due to his size and inexperience, not available for live cover.  He is standing to a limited book in 2006 in order to ensure excellent response to our mare owners, limited disruption to his training schedule and to ensure his positive experience with his new part-time job.  

Discounts to the base stud fee are available to non-auction breeders for quality pony mares, multiple mares and VPBA members.  Please enquire directly for details.  

If it is a priority for the resulting offspring to remain under 14.2 hands, we highly recommend  mares no larger than 13.3 at this time.  However, if the resulting F1 cross is to go back into the original breeding program, we leave the pony mare height up to the discretion of the  breeder.   We are happy to discuss height, breeding or background information in detail to ensure the best possible match.

We have every reason to believe that Diomedes has fulfilled his own genetic potential and is likely to throw what one would expect of a horse his size.  We are happy to discuss our research and reasoning in detail so you may plan accordingly.
